TICPAL22V10Z-25C: Replacement of PAL22V10

Part Number: TICPAL22V10Z-25C

Hi everyone,

We are currently using a PAL22V10 in our design (datasheet : eelinux.ee.usm.maine.edu/courses/ele373/pal22v10.pdf)

The problem with this component is that he is obsolete now.

Can the TICPAL22V10Z-25C replace this component ? And if Yes, is it a durable solution ? Or should I find something newer to replace this PAL ?

Thanks,

Florian

  • Faussat,
The two devices have the same functionality, however there may be differences in performance depending on what version you used, and what version you replace it with. You can look at the speed options to compare.
There may be differences in the fuse maps, so map file may need to be compiled for new target. Unfortunately I do not have access to data to indicate if this is true or not.
All of the PAL families on the market today are very old. There will not be newer versions available. A small FPGA should be able to replace this functionality if the TICPAL device does not.
The TICPAL devices are currently active.

With respect to longevity of supply:
Here is a quote from a document located at www.ti.com/quality It is in the General Quality Guidelines document.

TI’s Product withdrawal/discontinuance process complies with J-STD-048, latest issue. TI makes an effort to not obsolete products out of convenience. Convenience means: low running device, poor yields, limited customer adoption or similar items. TI’s obsolescence withdrawal schedule provides a longer lead time than the industry standard. TI allows 12 months for the last order and an additional 6 months to take final delivery of obsolete items. In rare circumstances, an accelerated withdrawal schedule may be necessary. In such cases, TI will communicate the last buy and final delivery dates in the EOL notice, along with an explanation of the circumstances necessitating the early withdrawal.
