LSF0102: current leakage?

Part Number: LSF0102

Team,

we are using three LSF0102 level shifters in our design, to translate between 1.8 V and 3.0 V levels. Part of the schematic is attached. Since the design should be low power (below 20 uA in sleep), we are investigating why we are having a couple times more than that. Currently, we have found out that turning off EN pin of one level shifter (e.g. U11) reduces the consumption by around 8 uA. When measuring voltage drop on pull-up resistors like R22 and R51, we can see around 50 mV, which seems about right. Since turning off the level shifter reduces the current, I’m inclined into thinking that the current is drained by the shifter itself, not our surrounding circuitry.

So, can you confirm this current consumption as normal, or should I check our surrounding circuitry with more detail? In the next design revision we can turn the shifters off when going to deep sleep, if that is the only solution.

  • Hello,

Yes - the 8uA current is the bias current through the LSF device.

You can see exactly how that bias current is generated in our video on the subject located here:

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
