SN74AVC4T774: SPI speed support and trace length estimate

Part Number: SN74AVC4T774

Hi Team,

Please kindly help below questions.

Q1: We will use the level shift(1.8V to 3.3V) on SPI bus and the SPI speed is 50MHz. Can the level shift support the speed ?

Q2: I am not sure the level shift can support the trace length. How do we assess?

Thanks

  • Hi Daniel,

The AVC4T774 is suited for high-speed applications with datarate of up to ~180Mhz per channel. So 50Mhz is well within the operating range of the device.
Regarding the trace length, it depends on the drive strength to overcome the parasitic trace capacitance. This can support 12mA per channel and with appropriate damping resistors to limit the overshoot/undershoot, it can be used to support long trace lengths.
You could use the IBIS models for the trace length simulation as per the system requirements.

  • Daniel,

Also wanted to know about the application usage ( SPI communication between MCU and sensor?), sector( Industrial, Comms ?). What is the business information or the production ramp plans.
