SN74LVC1G07: Can Out be pulled higher than Vcc?

Hello E2E,

In my use case, VCC = 2.85V and Output of SN74LVC1G07 pulled to 5V. Will this damage the device or violate any operating conditions? I didn't see a situation like this called out in the DS.

The output is pulled up via 1kohm resistor.

Hey Russell,
Yes, the output can be pulled up to 5V. This is exactly what open-drain devices are designed to do.

You're right that it's not specifically called out in the datasheet - we really should make that one of the applications since it's pretty much the only thing these devices are used for.
