CD40109B-Q1: digital Level translator from 3.3v to 20v

Part Number: CD40109B-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LS07

Hi,

I need to design a circuit wherein  +3.3 v  pulses coming from FPGA have to be converted to +20+/-5v signal(LOGIC 1: between +15v to +25v    and logic 0 : 0v ).CD40109B-Q1 seems to be one of the option. Is there any other latest IC  for level translation for one channel in given voltage requirements which has less lead time ?

Thanks

Seema

  • Hey Seema,
I don't think there's any device that does what you're asking, but I'll ask our translation expert to take a look on Monday.

  • Hi Seema,

We do not have device which can support this high voltage translation requirement.
This device has recommended operation range from 3 to 18V, with an abs max voltage of 20v. It cannot go beyond this range.
Also, since both are at the corner voltage of operation, the tpd would be extremely large which may not be acceptable.
We are not actively developing anything in this operating range. What is the application/system requirements of this?
  • Hi Shreyas,

Since high voltage level can be anything between +15V to +25 V, can CD40109B-Q1 be used ?

Sync signal of minimum +15v has to reach a display along with video.

    Thanks

    Seema

  • Hi Seema,

As per the datasheet specs, this device is not capable of handling voltages greater than 18V( normal ROC) and greater than 20V ( abs max).

You could consider using SN74LS07 open drain device.
With input at 3.3V, the output voltage can be pulled up to 25V.
