TXB0108: Junction temperature ?

Part Number: TXB0108

Dear Team,

Datasheets says that max operating free-air temp is 85°C, what does it mean? What about the PCB temp or Junction temp?

Regards,

Nir

  • Hi Nir,
I believe the free air operating temperature is very straight forward - if the surrounding environment of the device is at or below 85C, then the device is guaranteed to operate correctly. If the temperature is above 85C, then it is not.

The rated maximum junction temperature is 150C -- however you should know that this is _not_ a free pass to violate the free air operating temperature, but it is an _additional constraint_. Ie if you are operating in na 85C environment and somehow manage to get the junction temperature to 150C (which would be impressive for a logic translator with 20uA of drive strength like the TXB), then you will likely damage the device.
