TXB0304: Float unused data pins?

Part Number: TXB0304

Hi All,

Quick customer question: I’ve changed to TXB0304 in our design as this seems convenient for our sequencing control during the power up. We’ll connect a resistor from OE to VCCA and the IOs should be high impedance during the power-up.

I see a note in the datasheet that states A & B sides of unused data I/O pairs must be placed in the same state either both placed at gnd or both placed at Vcc - where Vcc is the supply voltage associated with the input port

The customer wants to know f they can they can float the unused pins?  Please let me know.

Thanks & regards, John Garrett,  TI-AFA

  • Hi John,
Yes, the pins of the unused channel can be left disconnected. Each channel of the TXB0304 essentially forms a latch, so the channel will automatically stabilize and prevent either side from actually floating -- ie there will always be a valid logic state there, although you won't know what it is.
