SN74LVC1G07: Input between Vil and Vih

Part Number: SN74LVC1G07

Hello E2E,

Can you confirm what state the output will be of the sn74lvc1g07 when the input is between Vil and Vih?  In this application, Vcc=3.5V.  So what are the conditions when the input is between 0.8V and 2.0V? The output is pulled to 3V.

Thanks!

Russell

  • Hey Russell,

By definition, the output is an an unknown state when the input is between VIH and VIL. Also, the device will draw a lot of extra current from shoot through, explained more here:

We recommend against this type of operation.

All that being said -- the threshold of a typical CMOS device is around Vcc/2.  You can expect that if your input is above Vcc/2, your input is "HIGH" and below that your input is "LOW" -- close to Vcc/2 you can expect oscillation and a lot of heat/possibly failure.
