Unknown logic IC by texas instruments 65ALS540

Hello,

While examining a laser driver board from a xerox copier I came across the following texas instruments chip: 65als540 in a SOIC 20 package.

It is manufactured by texas instruments but I have not been able to find any information about this chip nor a datasheet. The device number seems similar to a logic part number and some googling turns up one other 65ALS device in a 8 pin package.

Does anybody know what type of chip this is?

The chip itself is connected to the laser diode so somehow I think it is an mixed signal device. There are a few other passives on board and a trimpot. The pot is probably to fine tune the lasing current of the diode.

Thank you in advance for any answers.
