TXS0108E: Using TXS0108E as a simple isolator between my micro controller and the outside enviroment

Part Number: TXS0108E

Hello,

I am designing a circuit board with a couple of communication protocols and IOs to be installed in an outdoor cabinet.

For instance I will need to have RS232 ports, or simple UART debug ports, or IOs, or even I2C ports to the outside.

I am already using the TXS0108E in my board to convert the voltage levels between my micro and other ICs, so I was wondering if I could use the remaining ports of it, to interface with the outside world. For instant having the UART pins going from the micro through the TXS0108E and straight to a connector . Also having an input coming from the outside through the TXS0108E and connected to my micro.

What should I be concerned with? should I forget this idea and add additional optocouplers for example?

Thank you in advance for the help

Best regards
