TXB0104: What if short the out put together?

Hi team,

Customer is using TXB0104 to transfer between 1.8V and 3.3V.

But they find when connect the two out put together like below shows, the short voltage in not 3.3V but 1.7V.

So the question is whether the two out put can be shorted together or not? Thank you.

To allow automatic direction sensing, TXB translators have a very low drive strength, and require other devices to have a high drive strength so that they can override the voltage. So it is not possible to connect two TXB I/Os together. (As you can see, neither pin knows whether it is input or output.)

It might be possible to replace the TXB0104 with a TXS0104E.

Is the TXS0104 and LSF0108 similar in function? What are the other differences besides ESD protection and channel count and drive ability. Thank you!

The LSF0104 and TXS0104E have the same drive strength: zero.
