SN74LVC16T245: Resistance Testing

Hello,

The following circuit has the path from C1 to J1 as a multi-layer flex circuit. Assume the flex has been damaged with possible shorts. C1 is not accessible. Readings can be taken only from the J1 side.

Is it possible to arbitrarily take a resistance reading from any J1 point to any other J1 point without damaging U1? What cautions should be observed?

A multimeter in resistance mode should not be able to damage the device.

Is the circuit powered?

Hi Victor,

Measuring the resistance from any point on J1 to another should not damage the device. You can always power the device off if you are trying to find shorts in the multi-layer flex circuit.
