TXB0104: TXB0104 Level Translator bidirectional

Hi Team,

I would like to know if TXB0104 level translator can accept same voltage on both side A & B, I want to use it as a bidirectional buffer.

Can you check this issue?

Hi Shlomi,

The datasheet recommends VCCA ≤ VCCB. So this will be fine as long as VCCB doesn't go lower than VCCA.

Please note that the TXB has very weak output drivers (this is required to allow automatic direction sensing; the other devices must have stronger drivers to allow them to override the voltage level). This means that the TXB is not suitable for most applications where you want a buffer.

What is the actual problem you're trying to solve? Do you want more drive strength, or the ability do disconnect two buses?

Hi,

The problem is that I need to drive bidirectional JTAG signal with long traces & wires, approx. 50 cm length..

I didn’t find any other bidirectional buffer that I can use to drive this.

In this case, I can use TXB on the weak side and TXA in the strong side?

Sorry; with "TXB", I meant the entire TXB0104 device. Both sides (A and B) have weak output drivers.

It is not possible to increase the drive strength of bidirectional signals without a separate direction signal; if the pins on both sides have different voltages, how should the device know which one is to override the other?
