SN74LV4T125: TXS0104E : Replece part for Maxim's MAX3378E, auto bi-directional level shifter

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXS0104E

Hi there,

I am looking for a TI's part to replace Maxim's MAX3378E.  I looked around at some parts like SN74LV4T125, but they are unidirection. Could you please recommend some parts? Thanks!

Requirements as below :

`Free bi-direction without control pin (just like MAX3378E)

`it is used for 3.3 / 2.5 / 1.8 LVCMOS voltage level shift

`4 channls or more.

  • The TXS0104E has less ESD protection on the A port, but otherwise works in the same way.

  • Thanks, Clemens, they are very similar and I think we can replace it.

    A remaining question is, if our signal flows as below, and we need ±15V air-gap discharge capability, what should we do with TXE0104E port B? Add additional discrete ESD diodes on each IO pin? Thanks.

    FPGA IO ( lvcmos_1.8V) ---> TXE0104E (port A)_lvcmos_1.8V ---> TXE0104E (port B)_lvcmos_3.3V ---> connectors on user panel ( can be touched )

  • (Sorry, I misread the MAX3378E datasheet; both devices have exactly the same ESD protection.)

    Both MAX and TXS are rated for ± 15 kV HBM, and ± 10 kV air-gap discharge. If you need more, you indeed have to add discrete protection. (Both the MAX and TXS reach their maximum speed only if the load on their I/Os is less than 70 pF.)
