TXS0108E: multiple devices in series

Part Number: TXS0108E

Hello.

Can two TXS0108E level shifters be connected in series?

  • Yes.

(The pull-up resistors of both devices will be connected in parallel, so the required drive strength doubles. But 20 kΩ || 20 kΩ = 10 kΩ, which is still a tiny current.)

  • Hi Gregory,

What is the application and what are the system voltage nodes?

The TXS0108 has smart pullup resistors which change between 4k or 40k depending on the input signal going high or low.

So, ideally yes, it can be done and as Clemens suggested the parallel combination will be higher; 4kohm || 4kohm. It is definitely higher current as compared to the 20kohm || 20kohm. Note that TXB is not recommended for back to back connection.
