What's the max, Junction Temp and Thermal Resistor of the Junction to Ambient for the SN74ACT04DR?
Is SN74ACT04DR (SOIC) suited in this application? if not, what better device is suggested and sustained the higher temp?

Ambient Temp in motor drive system: 85 degree

Hi Brian,
The SN74ACT04 would work at the ambient temperature you mention but this is the maximum recommended condition in the datasheet and so I would recommend to use the SN74AHC04. We recently did a temp extension on this device and it will work at 5V. The thermals for the SN74AHC04 are in the datasheet. As for the max junction temp, that is the max storage temp listed in the datasheet.
