SN74LVC2T45: Input on A side exceeding VCCa Rail

Part Number: SN74LVC2T45

Hi Support team

My customer is using the SN74LVC2T45 in their design and are concerned that in one case with VCCA=1.8v, the input to the A side may go as high as 3.3 volts, this exceeds the rails. Will this damage the part, and if not will the part function normally at 100MHz? Reason I am asking again, is i saw a post where they say it is OK but the data sheet says no.

Thanks

  • Hi Jeff,

This is actually answered in one of our FAQ's.

The answer for this is part is YES. The ABS max section specifies the input has a max of 6.5V not Vcc + .5. This implies there is no positive clamp so you can have the input go higher than Vcc. Where in the datasheet does it say no?

    Thanks!
