Digital potentiometer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPL8002-25

Hi all,

I am interested in using the TPL8002-25 digital pot in my circuit. I like it because it is a parallel interface device and i can adjust the wiper position on the fly with my micro. On the flip side, it has 2 circuits and I only want to use 1...and it also gives a +4/-4  VDD/VEE range in the datasheet where as i want to use a 0-5V ref across my entire wiper movement.

Is it ok to just use one circuit of the device and connect Vdd=5V, VEE=GND and then just adjust my wiper with my parallel input? This means i'd use RG1=5V, RF1=GND and read the output from RSW1 as I adjust my parallel input with the micro. What would I do with the other pins? Should I leave RG2, RF2 and RSW2 unconnected (or how should I connect them if they are unused).

Thanks for your response.
