SN54AC74-SP: Propagation Delay Details

Part Number: SN54AC74-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN54HC132-SP, SN54HC32-SP

Team,

The ranges listed for propagation delay on the datasheets of the SN54AC74-SP, the SN54HC32-SP, and the SN54HC132-SP are not quite as detailed as I’d like. Do you have production data you can share with me on these parts?

Thank you.

  • B.D.,

I am not sure what the customer is looking for.  Tighter ranges?

Unfortunately, I do not have any data that would allow tightening the specifications for these devices.

There is a large range for propagation delays.  However, the delay between channels is typically less than 1ns for channel to channel skew.

  • Yes, tighter ranges. My issue is that these chips give me the signals going to several gate drivers in a power converter, and large shifts in delays can correspond to changed dead times, leading either to reduced efficiency or to damaged parts.

I understand that you can't change the datasheet, but if you even had information showing change with temperature, or variation within a lot, or anything else more specific and detailed, then we might better understand what headroom to leave in design and what controls to implement in manufacturing.

  • I was able to check on a few other sources, and unfortunately due to the age of the device we do not have any additional sufficient data to tighten the distributions.

    Regards,

    Wade
