MOSFET getting short drain to source.

Dears,

We are using BSP318S in our design and we are facing problem with it that drain and source getting short.

Can you please help us to find out possible root causes and suggest alternative TI part for it?

    Hi Narayan,

    Thanks for the inquiry. A short from drain to source is a very typical failure mode in a MOSFET. There are many possible causes. Without knowing more about the application, it is difficult for me to determine why the FET may have failed. As far as an alternative part, TI does not make any FETs in a SOT-223 package. However, we do make a very small 60V N-channel FET with lower on resistance: CSD18541F5. I would recommend contacting the vendor of the BSP318S to see if they can help determine the cause of your FET failures.
