TXB0108: Noise occurred during SPI level translation

Part Number: TXB0108

Hello,

Make SPI level translation circuit as attached by using TXB0108 and TXS1014E.

There is a noise on 3.3V SPI line.

Could you check and let me know why this noise is occurred and how can reduce it?

  • Hi Nicky,

The block diagram you have provided me with is not really a schematic. It is hard to tell from your block diagram how the customer is using the device. Can you provide a schematic with the components that are on each line? What is the end-equipment that this device is being used in?

Looking at your scope shot and making assumptions with your block diagram, I am thinking you are using the TXB and TXS devices as drivers. They have no output drive strength. If you have long traces on your schematic or wires that you need to drive then the TXB and TXS will not work. This is not noise you are seeing but ringing and the devices being incorrectly triggered.

I also have a question, why is it that you are up translating your 1.8V to 3.3V and then down translating back to 1.8? Why can you not just connect your 1.8V AP to the 1.8V Model IC?

Are the I/O's on your SPI bidirectional or is each channel unidirectional? You will need to add some sort of drivers to this outputs of your translators if you want to have more drive strength and avoid this ringing.

    Thanks!
