I will be using the SN74AVC4T245 for level shifting from a SMART cable connector. Does this part provide backfeed protection if the smart cable (FTDI # TTL 232R3V3) is connected but the board powering the SN74AVC4T245 is off?

Hi Alan,
I believe the feature you are talking about is Ioff.
Ioff will prevent backflow currentby disabling I/O output circuits when device is in partial-power-down mode. If either of your Vcc is at 0V, then the I/O's will go to Hi-Z.
This device does have Ioff.
