TXS0206A: Difference between application specific and general level shifter in SD card use

Hello,

I am looking to interface a uSD card from 3.3V (VCCA side) to 2.5V (VCCB side) with a level shifter.

I came across multiple ICs for this application which come in two main categories:

1. Application specific level-shifters for SD cards (e.g. TXS0206A)

2. General use bi-directional level-shifters (e.g. TXB0108)

I would like to know the difference between these two (with the most details possible)

Hello,

There is quite some difference between these two families of translators. My suggestion would be to go through each of their datasheets and look for which parameters are most important to your application.

Hi,

The comparing the datasheets will be the best way to see the differences for the devices. In short, the TXS0206A device will have pins used to interface with SD cards and is specific to this application. Whereas, the TXB0108 device can be used for a variety of level shifting applications. Examples can be seen in the FAQ below:

Note: TXB0104 is just a 4 channel version of the TXB0108.
