Problem with PCA9535 I2C Texas Instruments IC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCA9535, TCA9535

Hi All,

We've been experiencing problems when using the PCA 9535 intermittently. We've come across similar posts wherein the I2C pins and the device in general gets locked up. Has anyone come across this issue and solved it?

  • Hello Vishal,

Yes, there is a known issue with the PCA9535 involving the POR circuitry. This can cause the I2C lines to lock up when the power is quickly turned off and on again on the device.

The easiest solution is to switch to the TCA9535. This has improved POR performance, in addition to a larger VCC range. The TCA device is pin compatible and functionally equivalent, so should require no hardware or software change.

  • Hi Hattie,

Can this be resolved on the existing PCA9535? TCA9535 is not pin compatible with the PCA9535 and customer needs a solution on the existing boards

    Pls assist

    Thanks and regards,

    Srivatsa
