LSF0108: When input high Z will it be reflected at other side

Part Number: LSF0108

Hi,

For the LSF0108QPW: when the input (side A) is high-Z, will it be reflected at the other side (B) ? will it be also hi-Z or low ?

Thanks,

Adam

  • Hi Adam,

I would highly recommend this video series to learn exactly how the LSF works: Understanding the LSF family of bidirectional, multi-voltage level translators

I'm a bit confused by what you mean -- what exactly is being placed into a high-impedance state here?

The LSF0108 cannot have a single input put into a hi-z state, so I'm guessing you mean one of the drivers controlling the A side of the device. If that's the case, then I need to know if there are pull-ups connected to the A or B side and what supplies those are connected to. I also need to know the condition of the bias circuit (VrefA, VrefB, and EN pin), and the condition of the driver connected to the B side of the channel in question.

A schematic would help to answer a lot of my questions.

I'll just give an example schematic here and see if that helps:

(image from the applications section of the datasheet)

If we assume that the MDC connection at A2 is in the hi-z state and that the MDC connection on the other side is also in the hi-z state, then the pull-up resistor will pull A2 up to 1.8V.  When that happens, the input to the LSF at A2 is "high" and the output will also be "high" and go to 3.3V.
