SN74LVC1G17: 5V input with 3.3V Vcc allowed?

Part Number: SN74LVC1G17

I have an urgent question.  We are using your tiny logic SN74LVC1G17 Schmidt trigger buffer and have VCC tied to 3.3V.  We’ve run into a condition where our customer is driving the input to 5V and we are concerned.  When we look at the data sheet it looks like the inputs can tolerate 6.5v max, but I want to make sure this is still true if the VCC is only 3.3V.  This is urgent as we have a prototype at a customer site and are getting ready to order more boards and need to understand if we have to make a change.
