SN74AUC1G04: Exceeding upper temperature limit of AUC logic series

Part Number: SN74AUC1G04
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AUC1G14-EP

Hello support team,

we have an application with 1.8V logic level where speed (or more precise: low variation in propagation delay) is important.

Therefore I have chosen SN74AUC1G devices. The logic (mainly '74 and '04) is built into a device which shall withstand ambient temperatures from -40°C to +70°C. Due to other heat sources, the surface temperature on the logic ICs was measured to exceed +90°C.

What are the concerns when exceeding the specified +85°C upper free-air temperature limit? - increase in quiescent current / thermal runaway? - increase in propagation delay (all), setup- and hold-times (FFs)? - degrading lifetime of the circuits? I could not find curves answering the first two issues.

Is it possible to get parts of the AUC series specified for a higher upper temperature limit?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best Regards

Andreas Czechanowski
