TXS0108E: differential

Part Number: TXS0108E

Could TXS0108EPWR be used for differential signal, for example RS-422/RS485 (5V) or M-LVDS?

I understand it's not ideal and I like to reuse the existing design. The traces on the board are routed as 100ohms DIFF pairs.

Thank you.

  • I wouldn't recommend it. Unless I'm mistaken, the whole point of differential signals is to eliminate common-mode noise, and this device won't do anything to help with that.  If you can use a single ended translator successfully with a differential signal, then you should be able to just use a single-ended signal in the first place & reduce your wire count.

That being said, if your signals are operating between 0V and +VCCx and they are in the operating range of the TXS0108E, then there's no reason they wouldn't work.
