SN74LVC2G38: Level shifter

Hi,

I would like to use the SN74LVC2G38 as a level shifter. The voltage supply is 1.8V and the output should pull down a 3.3V load to GND. I think this does not work becuase the output is limited to VCC. The SN74LVC1G38 should fit because the output is specified up to 5.5V and not limited to VCC, correct?

This looks like an error in the datasheet; the absolute maximum ratings certainly allow higher voltages. And as far as I know, all 3-state or open-drain LVC outputs allow this.

Hey Xaver,

As Clemens mentioned, this is likely an error. The abs max for an output in a High impedance state is 6.5 V which indicates there are no clamp diodes at the output. Since its open drain, the output is high impedance when driving High and is able to be pulled up to 5.5 V safely just like the 1 channel version.
