SN74AXC8T245: RGMII level translator

Part Number: SN74AXC8T245

Hello,

I wish to use SN74AXC8T245PWR IC to level translate from 1.8V to 2.5V or 2.5V to 2.5V and place that IC in RGMII lines. I have produced a small test card and placed that SN74AXC8T245 IC in between RGMII MAC and Marvell Eth Switch which is also in MAC mode. Can you share some guidelines, application notes and circuit design examples for SN74AXC8T245PWR in RGMII lines? I can't see the signals passing through the SN74AXC8T245 correctly. There is some distortion and low level issues.

With kind regards,

Ahmet

Thanks in advance.

With kind regards

  • Hey Ahmet,

This is a generic translator that can be used in many applications. All guidelines needed to use the device can be found in the data sheet. RGMII has some stringent timing requirements and typically requires high data rates, so it could prove difficult for this device. If the layout isn't ideal, this could also add some issues.

Are you able to provide any scope shots of the signals so I can see the issues you are having, and help debug?
