SN74AVC4T245: how to drive I/O pin

Part Number: SN74AVC4T245
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AXC4T245

Hi, support team.

I saw following description in  section 9.1 Application Information of data sheet.

"The SN74AVC4T245 device is ideal for use in applications where a push-pull driver is connected to the data I/Os."

But In our system, some drivers are OD(Hi-z)/Low driver.

Though I don't think that it is problem, my understanding is correct?

And when the input is OD, we need pull-up the I/O pins?

Best Regards,

  • The translator's I/O pins must have a valid voltage level (low or high) at all times. So if you want to drive it with an open-drain signal, you indeed need a pull-up resistor.

By the way, consider using the newer SN74AXC4T245 instead.
