TM4C129XNCZAD: Hibernation Mode Power requirement

Part Number: TM4C129XNCZAD

In our new project we are planning to use the internal RTC of the TM4c129X , currently we use BQ32000DR with 32.768 Crystal along with 3.0VDC battery(BR-2032/HEN).

For using the internal RTC of TM4c129x we want to know the power requirements of the controller in the Hibernation mode so that we can perform the battery life calculation. (I tried searching in the datasheet but was not able to find it)

Also we want to know if external RTC is recommended over the internal RTC of controller , what will be the trade off in doing so. We have energy meter application where the correctness of the RTC is critical along with the battery life.

Your are requested to kindly address the issue.

Thanks and Regards,

Abhijit Kumar

  • Hello Abhijit,

We provide all current specifications under Section 32.24 of the device datasheet titled Current Consumption.

Also we want to know if external RTC is recommended over the internal RTC of controller , what will be the trade off in doing so. We have energy meter application where the correctness of the RTC is critical along with the battery life.

There is no need for an external RTC with the device and we have not done any analysis on external vs internal RTC as the internal RTC has always been sufficient for customer applications.

    Best Regards,
