TM4C123GH6PM: Measuring Speed

Hi,

I have a customer who has a query about TM4C123GH6PM. Please see below the query of the customer.

Customer wants to connect MPU (Magnetic Pick-Up) sensor to TM4C123GH6PM microcontroller, he will use QEI and wants to measure speed, does he need the IDX pin?

Does he also need an interfacing circuit or the microcontroller that can measure speed, without any additional circuitry

    No, IDX is not needed if the RESTMODE is clear. 

    When RESMODE is clear, the positional counter is constrained to the range [0:M], where M is the
    programmable maximum value. The index pulse is ignored by the positional counter in this mode.

    You can use the TM4C123 to interfaced directly with the rotary encoder.
