TMS570LS3137: how to know the MAC address of TMS570LS3137 device

I am very new to EMAC and Ethernet interface. I am planning to establish ethernet communication between 2 Hercules development boards of 3137 device.

How do I get the MAC address of EMAC peripheral? How do I program the MACSRCADDRLO and MACSRCADDRHI register? I read MAC address is specific to a device to uniquely identify the device in a network.

Please help.

Hello Jai,

We are not providing MAC Address with silicon. This link might provide some information on how to get unique MAC addresses from ieee.org:

Once you have your MAC addresses for your product, you can program those addresses to the MACSRCADDRLO and MACSRCADDRHI registers of each device.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. As I posted initially, my plan is to connect two Hercules dev boards using Ethernet interface to have just point to point communication between two boards. In this case, can I program MACSRCADDRLO and MACSRCADDRHI registers with my own values for testing.

E.g. DEV BOARD 1 MAC ADDRESS: AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF

DEV BOARD 2 MAC ADDRESS: 11:22:33:44:55:66

Hi Jai,

Yes, you can use your own values to the registers if the boards are not connected to external ethernet.
