TMS570LS3137: ADC Module Stop a Conversion

Part Number: TMS570LS3137

Hello,

In the manual,A group’s conversion can be stopped by clearing the group’s channel select register.I want to know if a  conversion is ongoing when the  channel select register be cleared, will the ADC wait for the conversion to complete and store the result to the memory?Or stop the conversion immediately and discard the data?

Thanks.

  • The conversion will be stopped immediately.

  • Hello QJ Wang,

    I have 4 other questions.

1.I want to test emulation mode, but I can't find how to enter emulation mode in the manual, how to switch from normal mode to emulation mode?

2.Is the No Reset on ChnSel field useful for both single conversion and continuous conversion?Or only for single conversion?

3.If the group's freeze capability is unable, but the group is triggered and waiting for conversion, will the the group’s STOP status bit be setted?

4.In the Interrupt Flag Register, the END flag is only useful in single conversion mode,I wonder if the END status bit in the status register is also only used in single conversion mode?

    Thanks.

  • 1.I want to test emulation mode, but I can't find how to enter emulation mode in the manual, how to switch from normal mode to emulation mode?

It is debug mode, when the code suspends at a breakpoint, the emulation mode is entered.

2.Is the No Reset on ChnSel field useful for both single conversion and continuous conversion?Or only for single conversion?

It is a feature. You can enable or disable it based on your application.

3.If the group's freeze capability is unable, but the group is triggered and waiting for conversion, will the the group’s STOP status bit be setted?

If the FRZ_EV bit is set, or freeze is enabled, this group's conversion will be frozen whenever there is a new request for other group. While the group's conversion is frozen, the group's stop status bit is set.

If the freeze feature is disabled, the STOP status bit will not be set.

4.In the Interrupt Flag Register, the END flag is only useful in single conversion mode,I wonder if the END status bit in the status register is also only used in single conversion mode?

Group Conversion End flag is set only if this Group conversions are configured to be in the single-conversion mode.

Group ENd Interrupt is not practical for a group which is in continuous conversion mode. Group Memory Threshold Interrupt is more practical for continuous conversion mode.

  • Hello QJ Wang,

For question 4,if the continuous conversion is stopped, will the END status bit in the status register be setted or not? Thanks.

  • NO. The END status in interrupt flag register is not used for continuous conversion mode

If a conversion group is configured to be in a continuous conversion mode, then it needs to only be triggered once. All the channels selected for conversion in that group will be converted repeatedly.

  • I mean the END status bit in ADEVSR ADG1SR ADG2SR ,not the END flag in ADEVINTFLG ADG1INTFLG ADG2INTFLG.

By the way,If Group1 conversions are ongoing in single conversion mode, and Event Group conversion is requested, will the ADC complete converting the current channel for Group1 before switch to Event Group? Thanks.

  • If Group1 conversions are ongoing in single conversion mode, and Event Group conversion is requested, will the ADC complete converting the current channel for Group1 before switch to Event Group?

No, it will not switch to Event group until all the selected channels in Group1 have been converted.
