MSP432E401Y: Help with flashing MCU on custom board salvaged from Launchpad

Part Number: MSP432E401YT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP432E401Y, UNIFLASH

- I recently built a board with MSP432E401Y MCU

- However, the MCU was out of stock everywhere so I removed one from MSP432E4 Launchpad and installed it on my custom board.

- I am using the XDS110 on board debugger to program my custom board.

- Using PC0, PC1, PC2, PC3 to program my custom board and the circuit and jumpers look good (schematic below)

- Custom board connected to XDS110 using

  • TCK, TMS, TDI, TDO & TARGET_RESET

Initially I was getting ERROR: Error -615, Target failed to see a correctly formatted SWD header

  • Did some research and found out that because I took the MCU out of a launchpad it might be in production mode so I tried to factory reset it using
  • “Unlock Sequence Using Uniflash and XDS Debug Probes”
  • "dbgjtag.exe –f @xds110 –Y unlock,mode=msp432e4"

Anyway i noticed that the Analogue Voltage was not connected so after turning that on Error -615 went away

Now when i test connection with these configs in ccxml i get:

[Start: Texas Instruments XDS110 USB Debug Probe]

Execute the command:

%ccs_base%/common/uscif/dbgjtag -f %boarddatafile% -rv -o -S integrity

[Result]

When I try to debug (program the MCU):

CORTEX_M4_0: GEL_OUTPUT:

Memory Map Initialization Complete

CORTEX_M4_0: Jtag Communication Error: (Error -1170 @ 0x0) Unable to access the DAP. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK). (Emulation package 9.4.0.00129)

CORTEX_M4_0: Failed to remove the debug state from target before disconnecting.

Not sure what to do here, please help!

  • i tried lowering the TCLK to 2.5MHz but the problem still persists!
