TMS570LS1224 SPI Queries

How many SPI Ports are there in TMS570LS1224.

In Our design we have to connect following six devices over SPI

- x1 EEPROM
- x2 ISO SPI (LTC6820)
- x2 To connect external SPI based device
- x1 SD Card

1. Please suggest how to connect the above five devices
2. What maximus size of SD card and up to which SD Card Class we can connect over SPI. We are considering Class 10, 64GB SD card, will it work?
3. What is MibSPI and how it is different from Standard SPI. Can we connect the SPI based devices over MibSPI, and will it properly work?

Hi Swadesh,

The TMS570LS1224 PGE package has 3 MibSPI modules with 12 chip-selects in total, and has 1 SPI compatible module with 1 chip-select. So up to 13 SPI slave devices communication with LS1224PGE through SPI interface.

The TMS570LS1224 ZWT package has 3 MibSPI modules with 16 chip-selects in total, and has 2 SPI compatible modules with 3 chip-select in total.

MibSPI module can be used as multi-buffered SPI mode or as standard SPI mode.

Please provide us some idea about the SD Card connection over SPI also.

We are considering Class 10, 64GB SD card, will it work?

If there is any reference, please provide.

From Hardware perspective only, I want confirmation that, will the Class 10, 64GB SD card work over SPI?

I think that all families of SD cards support SPI mode. But I am not very sure, please check SD card specification.
