TMS570LC4357-EP: Regarding verification of ESM1.40

Hi,

This is a question regarding notification "ESM1.40".(ESM1.40 : ESM Group1 Channel40)
We are now testing the ESM function of TMS570 MCU on the evaluation board.
Based on explanation in Sec 38.3.2.4 of SPNU563A, we tried to force ESM 1.40 by using the following test codes.
But the test result was not as expected. The MCU notified no error.

/* ESM 1.40: EFCBOUND = 0x0013C000 */
efcREG->BOUND = (1U << 20) | (0xFU << 14);

Should we modify the test codes? Please advise.

Hi Sho,

EFC Single Bit Error will not set the ESM 1:40. EFC Single Bit Error sets the bit 12 of EFCPINS register.

Thank you for your reply.

You were right, I could check the bit 12 of EFCPINS register was set when my code was running.
However, Described In Sec 38.4.1 of SPNU563A, EFC Single Bit Error is set the ESM 1:40.

Is this document miswrote?

Hi Sho,

The EPC selftest doesn't set ESM 1.40. The ESM 1.40 should be set by class 3 error.

To verify notification of ESM 1.40, Could you please tell me about technics of forcibly generating "class 3 error"?

Sho,

A class 3 error indicates that there was a single bit failure reading the eFuses. We are not able to generate a class 3 error (ESM 1.40 error) by fault injection or self-test.
