TM4C1294NCPDT: CCS 10.4, issue with resource explorer for TM4C

Hi Richard,

I will look into this in more detail tomorrow, I will need to install 10.4 in order to try and recreate this as well. Just as a dumb question, did you restart your computer after the install and still have this issue?

Also have you tried TivaWare 2.2.0.295 to see if that has any issues? 2.1.4.178 was built with CCS 6.0.1 so I don't know if maybe that is playing a role? 2.2.0.295 was built with CCS 9.1.0.

TI has stopped supporting updates on TM4C products, so it stuck to these versions apart from the compiler and CCS. I have an issue applying JRE into the suitable location (need step by step instruction) to make XDCONF work with XDCTools 3.32.2.25 without reverting back to 3.31....., that would be much appreciated.

I do not see Tivaware 2.2.0.295 not being supported since 2.1.1.71b which come from tirtos_tivad_2_16_01_14.

I'm using TI-RTOS.

Just to clarify here, that is not true as a blanket statement. TivaWare was updated to 2.2.0.295 in April 2020.

TI-RTOS for Tiva-C was not owned by the TM4C apps team for many years and we did not have influence to get an update done.

Unfortunately due to the amount of validation efforts that would be required, an update to TI-RTOS for Tiva-C is unlikely to come in the short term.

Now are you trying to import a TivaWare project or a TI-RTOS project? Because it looked to me that it was a TivaWare project from examples\boards\dk-tm4c129x\sd_card

I can try and import from C:\ti\tirtos_tivac_2_16_01_14\products as well, so please clarify here so I am trying to the right step.

I had a look into TivaWar_C_Series  2.2.0.295 and found FATFS is 0.09A (2013) version, where TivaWare_C_Series-2.1.1.71b has FATFS of 0.11A (2015). So it is a step backwards in the upgrade, not sure why.

I tried again and has this imports error message, please advise a solution so I can work on it. Thanks.

Thanks, sorry but your image did not upload well. I wasn't aware that was the project information or I would have asked for a clearer upload then.

I see the issue as well so let me involve the CCS team as this definitely looks to be a resource explorer issue.

In the meantime while we work with the CCS team to understand this, let me get you running with something you can work on to progress.

If you have downloaded TivaWare 2.2.0.295 you can import the project without resource explorer from the local disk.

Our Getting Started Guide Section 2.3 walks through how to manually import projects from the local disk: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spmu373/spmu373.pdf#page=11

The project you can be found on the local disk after installing SW-TM4C at [Install Path]\TivaWare_C_Series-2.2.0.295\examples\boards\ek-tm4c1294xl

I will have to look into this when I get back but my suspicion is that the FatFS provided by TI-RTOS team was managed separately from TivaWare team and so TivaWare as released via SW-TM4C never got updated. But I'll verify that on Wednesday.

Am I correct to assume that the TivaWare package was downloaded from ti.com and installed and not from Resource Explorer?  I am assuming that based on the path shown in the error message.

On my main machine I have the same version of TivaWare installed (via Resource Explorer inside CCS) and I am able to import that exact example just fine.

I tried out another machine but downloaded TivaWare from TI.com.  Once I tell CCS where the package is installed Resource Explorer will find it.  However, when I try to import the example I get the same error as you.

On that same machine, I then deleted TivaWare and installed it from Resource Explorer instead.  I was then able to import the example fine.

I would recommend trying the same.
