TM4C123AE6PM: Number of Bytes

Part Number: TM4C123AE6PM

Hello,

There are efforts to try to enable a PSU primary and secondary firmware download function through CAN protocol. The TM4C123AE6PMI7R is used as the CAN BUS microcontroller and SN65HVD257DR as the CAN bus transceivers. There are a few questions we have:

Can the microcontroller support more than 8 bytes of write data? Can it support up to 32 bytes?

Can the data package extend from 8 bytes to 32 bytes (data 16 byte + header + check sum)?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

I don't think I'm clear with your question. The data field in a CAN frame is between 0-8 bytes only for CAN version 2.0 that TM4C123AE6PMI7R  is compliant with. See data field description below. If this is not the question you are referring to, please clarify what you meant by writing 32 bytes? If you are referring to more than 8 bytes as in CAN FD, then this MCU does not support CAN FD.
