TMS570LS0432: I could not receive any messages on the CAN bus

A CAN node is comprised of three basic parts: a processor, a CAN controller, and a CAN transceiver. Do you have a CAN transceiver connected to the CAN TX/RX pins?

The role of the CAN transceiver is simply to drive and detect data to and from the bus. It converts the single-ended logic used by the CAN controller to the differential signal transmitted over the bus. It also determines the bus logic state from the differential voltage, rejects the common-mode noise, and outputs a single-ended logic signal to the controller.

BTW, the device is not a 5-V tolerate device. Connecting an external 5V signal to CAN TX or RX directly may damage the device. 

CAN-BUS has a MCP2551 which is a transceiver. I connected MCP2551 with a 5V from one of the 5V pins on the TMS570LS0432.

No, the TXD and RXD of MCP2551 are 5V signals and should not be connected to TMS570 CAN TX/RX directly.

What should I do then, what is your recommendation? What kind of can-bus should be used?

Also, I have tried with the tja1040 transceiver, and again I could not receive any messages from the board.

tms570 did not transmit any data, there is no waveform on the oscilloscope

i see it moves forward but when it comes to while(!canIsRxMessageArrived) line, program stucks there, indicating message box is not receiving anything

To run the HALCoGen example (example_canCommunication.c), the CAN1 and CAN2 of TMS570LS0432 should be connected through 2 CAN tranceivers

CAN1 TX/RX -- Transceiver1-- CAN1_H   <--> CAN2_H --Transceiver2--CAN2_TX/RX

                                              -- CAN1_L    <--> CAN2_L -- Transceiver2 

Nothing special in the example, if the CAN signals are connected correctly, the transmit and receive should work without any issue.
