TM4C129ENCPDT: Reference design of CAN bus

Hi,

I am considering CAN bus as the communication option of our new product. Since I am new to CAN hardware, I am looking for hardware reference design even though the connection between MCU/CAN Controller and the CAN transceiver looks simple. I checked the DEV board of the MCU and it does not seem to provide such circuit.

Hello Tianlei,

We don't have a specific reference design available for TM4C, but this application report covers details of the CAN bus in Section 5: https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/SLOA101B

It is pretty simple overall, the main element needed is the 120 ohm terminating resistors shown in Figure 6.

MIKROE provide TM4C129 development boards with a CAN transceiver. E.g.:

Note that the example programs from MIKROE use their own compiler and IDE, so can't be imported into TI's CCS.
