TMS470 doesnt work without Debugger

Hi guys,

My board can only run when i debug the controller. When i disconnect the debug and plug the power supply, the board doesnt work and the current is lower too. Can anyone tell me what might be the reason causing this problem?

Thanks a lot

  • Is the configuration of your linker correct ? Is your firmware correctly download into the flash memory ?

  • Thanks for your reply JM. I think so, since everything is fine when i debug it. However after power off/on, the controller does nothing! The current is much lower than the time when I debug the controller. I also found that the signal of nRST was strange and It looks like a clock. It seems that the nRST becomes low in every small time period which might resset my controller. But when i plug in the debugger, the signal keeps high. Does anyone has clues how to solve this??

  • Are you using the evaluation board ? do you have any pull up on nRST ? cyclic low pulse on nRST might indicate an internal reset. Have you the recommended Pull up/ down on Jtag signal ?

Which workbench are you using ? on the IAR workbench that I am using, setting to run software from flash and RAM are very different (startup, linker configuration, debugger configuration)

How do you know that controller is doing nothing ?

Did you try sample code provided specialy for the controller ?

  • I finally find the problem. I forgot to add startup file and flash file to my project :) Now everything works well!

    Thanks for all your help!!

  • I have the same problem. Can you please point me to example startup code and flash file?
