RM57L843: The compiler ignores the declaration of volatile

By default, static variables do not appear in the map file.  To see them, add the option --mapfile_contents=sym_defs to the link command.

You use use the project property GUI to configure it:

If the variable is not initialized and unused in your code, the variable will not be placed in map file.

You can use the RETAIN pragma

Tried the following example code using the TI v20.2.5 compiler:

#pragma RETAIN (testVolatile)
static volatile uint32_t testVolatile;

{
	return 0;
}

And when the --mapfile_contents=sym_defs linker option was used, the generated map file reported the testVolatile variable:
