AM2432: Recommended Powering Solution for AM2432

Part Number: AM2432

Hi Team,

We can use both a Discrete or PMIC for AM243.

Would you please teach me the recommended powering solution for AM2432?

Do you have any slide or document for it?

How to treat VDDS_DDR when the customer doesn't use DDR?

Thanks and Best regards,

 Kuerbis

  • Hi Kuerbis,

The recommended power solution depends on what the customer is trying to do for their application.  From the perspective of the AM2432 device, discrete or PMIC is a don't care, as long as the power up sequencing in section 7.10.2 of the AM243x Datasheet is met.  A PMIC generally provides the easiest power implementation for the AM243x device, but a discrete solution would provide more flexibility to meet other system power needs.

Section 6.6 of the AM253x Datasheet covers what to do with the unused pins on the device, including how to terminate VDDS_DDR pins when DDR is not used.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Hi Mike,

I understand the recommended power solution depends on what the customer is trying to do for their application.

Do you have a reference for typical application to use TI PMIC and discrete device?

    Thanks and Best regards,

      Kuerbis

  • Hi Kuerbis,

For discrete device power solution for the AM243, you can reference both of the released EVMs with the AM243x device: TMDS243GPEVM, and LP-AM243.

For a PMIC solution, we do not have a reference that is ready to share yet, but you can reference this tech note on Powering the AM64xx with the LP8733xx PMIC, which will be very similar to what is needed for the AM243x.  Note the recommended PMIC would be LP87334D.

    Thanks,
    Mike
