Hello,

I am working on a new design that involves Texas Instruments Hercules platform TMS570LS3137-EP.

How much is TMS570LS0432 compatible to TMS570LS3137-EP? Do application engineers foresee significant re-work from the perspective of moving code base over?
TMS570LS0432 mentions using Hercules Common Platform Architecture while TMS570LS3137-EP mentions Common Platform Architecture on product landing page. Are they both the same? Or has product architecture evolved?

Hi Tarun,

1. Both device uses ARM Cortex-R4 architecture. They have same functional safety features. The flash and SRAM in both devices are protected by ECC.

2. LS3137 supports floating point, but LS0432 doesn't. LS3137 has DMA controller, but LS0432 doesn't support DMA.

3. The devices are not pin to pin compatible: LS432 has 100 pin with PZ package, but LS3137-EP has 337 balls with ZWT package. LS0432 has smaller memory size (flash, SRAM), slower CPU speed, and less peripherals.

To confirm; because of several differences listed above, it will likely to result in rework in configuration firmware?

Hi Tarun,

Yes, you need new configuration for LS31x device, They can generate those files using HALCOGen.
