TMS570LC4357: Issues with Demo Project with my TMDX570LC43HDK

Part Number: TMS570LC4357
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDX570LC43HDK, UNIFLASH, HALCOGEN

Dear all,

I'm novice to this Hercules MCUs. Just got my TMDX570LC43HDK. As specified in the quick start guide that comes along with the device, I'm facing some issues and have following queries:

  1. does the eval board require two connections to make it work?
    1. A dedicated power supply
    2. USB cable?
  2. As specified in the quick start guide, since the MCU comes preprogrammed, after initial power up, it should display a blinking sequence on some of the LEDs. However, while I powered the board up, I did not see any such sequence. There is only one blue LED powered on while I plug the USB cable.
  3. I have installed Hercules Safety MCU Demos 4.0.0. However, when I start the tool, it detects the board, but throws error stating "Demo software not detected on microcontroller... (attached is the screenshot)". I followed the instructions and pressed PORST button on the board. Well, there was no response from the software as suggested in the Error. Board is available as shown in the device manager. attached are the screenshots for the same.

Can anyone please help me with this?

Regards,

  • Hi Harsh,

The demo was developed under windows XP and with old version of labview. The GUI may not work under windows 10. You can use CCS to open the projects and source code, and execute under CCS.

  • Thanks for the prompt response Wang.

Well, can you reply on the other queries as well? Listed the same below for your ready reference:

    3. How to open Demo projects in CCS? I checked in TI folder where my other TI applications (including CCS, HALCoGen, uniflash etc) are installed, however, there is no Demo Application related folder. Where do I locate corresponding files?

    Thanks.

    H C Trivedi

  • Does the eval board require two connections to make it work?

Yes. USB cable is used for XDS100V2 emulator and virtual COM port (SCI1).

There is only one blue LED powered on while I plug the USB cable.

Please plug in the power supply (6V~12V)

How to open Demo projects in CCS?

The safety demo has source code. You can import the demo project for your device.
