TMS570LS1227: TMS570LS12HDK + lwIP library: RMII/MII question

Hi TI expert

I have a question during use TMS570LS12HDK and lwip.

I try to connect to ethernet using TMS570LS12XHDK and lwip. The technical document I mainly refer to is "HALCoGen Ethernet Driver With lwIP Integration Demo and Active Webserver Demo".I configured halcongen according to the steps in the document, downloaded lwIP and imported to my solution at CCS and compiled correctly. Then it worked.

But my question is : the default halcogen setting, according to the document, is to use the MII interface. I want to know if MCU can use the RMII on TMS570LS12HDK ,to communicate with dp83640. and if i can, what configuration do I need to modify in halcogen or in user code.Or does the TMS570LS12HDK hardware need to be modified?

Hi Hao Liang,

Both RMII and MII are supported by TMS570 device. By default, the MII is used by HDK HW settings. To use RMII, the following modifications should be make on HDK:

1. Populate R193 resistor (2.2kohms) to pull RX_DV up

2. Replace Y3 with a 50-MHz oscillator

Hi QJ Wang,

I have completed the hardware modification as you said. About the modification of halcogen, do I only need to select the RMII option instead of MII in pinmux? Is there anything else that needs to be modified in halcogen or in user code?

You need to select RMII. You also need to select MDIO and MCLK which are checked automatically when you select RMII.
