TMS570LS3137: CCM-R4F self-test

Hello there,

We enable ESM Group1 Channel 31 "CCM-R4F - self-test" error to have influence on the nERROR ESM output signal, therefore if the requested CCM-R4F self-test failed, the nERROR signal will be asserted to reset the MCU (hard-wired by hardware).

However, at TRM SPNU449C para. 9.3.2, it is saying that: 

  1. During self-test, the compare error module output signal is deactivated. Any fault detected inside the CCM-R4F will be flagged by ESM error “CCM-R4F - self-test”.
  2. During the self-test operation, the compare error signal output to the ESM is inactive irrespective of the compare result.

Does this mean that the nERROR pin will never to activated by ESM Group1 Channel 31 "CCM-R4F - self-test" error?

    If the ERROR pin action/response on Group 1.31 is enabled, the nERROR pin will be pulled LOW  when CCM-R4F selftest is done.

  • During self-test, both CPUs can execute normally, but the compare logic will not be checking any CPU signals, it checks the test patterns (match and mismatch), and generates "CCM-R4F - self-test" error if any fault detected.

    The quoted texts say "during self-test", OK, so only "during self-test" that it will deactivate the nERROR signal output. If any fault is detected, the CCM-R4F - self-test ESM error will be generated, so if it has been configured to assert nERROR, this output signal will be pulled low. 

    Is my understanding correct?

    You are correct. The nERROR will be asserted if any error occurs during the self-test. The nERROR pin will keep low until you clear it manually.
