AM2434: Complies with what TSN standard

Part Number: AM2434

Hi,

1) I saw many times that this device supports TSN, however TSN is a set of standards so with which is it compliant exactly ?

2) Safety :I

  • Is this device SIL-3 certified ?
  • When it comes to the SW, all the drivers are certified SIL-3 ?

Regards,

Geoffrey

  • Hi Geoffrey,

    2) Safety :I

    • Is this device SIL-3 certified ?
    • When it comes to the SW, all the drivers are certified SIL-3 ?

I will come back on this.

  • Hey Prasad,

    1) Can you tell me more about the 802.1CB : Frame Replication and Elimination for Reliability(FRER) ?

My customer targets this particular feature and I can see that it can implemented in SW. Have we done it already / Do you have any info ?

    2) Forward and Queing  of Time Sesitive Streams (FQTSS) is supported but there a N for the SDK version, what does it mean ?

    3) Any update about the safety ?

    Regards,

    Geoffrey

  • Hi Geoffrey,

My customer targets this particular feature and I can see that it can implemented in SW. Have we done it already / Do you have any info ?

Yes, 802.1CB can be implemented in SW. We have not done this and there is no plan. However, there was analysis done to get performance estimate on 1GHz R5 on one of Jacinto family of devices. I can get that data if it helps. Meanwhile can you please share the throughput requirements like packet rate etc.

    2) Forward and Queing  of Time Sesitive Streams (FQTSS) is supported but there a N for the SDK version, what does it mean ?

N in SDK version means HW supports but no plan for SW support.

    3) Any update about the safety ?

Can you please create a new thread so we can assign to safety expert?

    Regards,

    Prasad

  • Hi Prasad,

Thank you for the answer :)

Yes please can you send me the analysis ?

    Regards,

    Geoffrey

  • Hi Geoffrey,

Let me get it from SW team. Pls allow me some time to get it adapted/cleaned for AM243x. I will come back on this by Tuesday.

    Regards,

    Prasad

  • 1) Can you tell me more about the 802.1CB : Frame Replication and Elimination for Reliability(FRER) ?

I would not recommend this device for 802.1CB/FRER, except for highly restricted use cases of some tens of thousands of frames per second at maximum. and endpoint only. FRER defines duplicating and removing duplicates of also switched traffic, which is up to ~150k packets per second full duplex at 100M Ethernet and ~1.5M packaets per second at 1G Ethernet.

    2) Safety :I

    • Is this device SIL-3 certified ?
    • When it comes to the SW, all the drivers are certified SIL-3 ?

No it will not be SIL-3 certified drivers. See datasheet https://www.ti.com/lit/gpn/am2434
